Ural Electric Platform at the Comtrans-2023 Exhibition
At the «Comtrans-2023» exhibition, the Ural automobile plant presented its first fully electric truck.
The solution is a universal platform that can be used to build equipment for various purposes. Commercial vehicles for urban logistics, garbage trucks, and street sweepers are potential applications for the Urals electric platform.
What's inside?
The promising modular electric platform «Ural» is entirely domestic, with the exception of some toggle switches and indicator elements. The production of key components: traction batteries, power electronics, and electric drives is localized in Russia.
- The electric power unit is based on 8 battery modules. RUBRUKS HVB-307-100, driving an asynchronous electric motor with a built-in gearbox.
- Thermoregulation Unit Maintains the operating temperature of the battery modules.
- On-board charger RUBRUKS RBC-600-22 allows the car to be charged from a household electrical outlet using a special charging cable, as well as from a charging station.
- High-voltage switching unit RUBRUKS It serves to connect all components to the battery at a single point.
Advantages:
- Silence and absence of exhaust: An important characteristic for municipal vehicles operating in residential courtyards. A garbage truck based on the Ural truck platform will not make noise, create increased vibration around it, or «smoke» the air in the courtyard. The use of an electric platform in intra-city logistics will also help create a comfortable urban environment by reducing pollution and noise levels.
- Economical The cost of owning electric-powered equipment is lower compared to ICE-powered equipment. Electric drives do not require regular maintenance or replacement of consumables. The cost of ownership is determined by the price per kilowatt of electricity and the cost of replacing the traction battery after its service life. Disadvantages:
The electric platform's range with full load is 300 km. This limits the possibilities for using the solution outside of populated areas.
Solving this problem is possible by using a gas generator unit in the system, as the cargo platform design provides for.
